As a beauty product obsessed woman, my shower routine tends to be pretty intensive. While I’m showering, I like for my showers to feel as luxe as possible because it’s a form of self care for me. I use my time in the shower to prepare my mind for the day and use it as my personal sanctuary. But when you have busy days, it can be hard to fit in a 30 to 45 min shower or even an hour if you like to take EXTREMELY long showers.
You’ll be surprised with how much you can actually get done in the shower if you do it the right way.
Prep your body before getting in the shower
Start by brushing your hair, brushing your teeth, cleansing your face etc. This will save you a lot of time in the shower. As of lately, I have been “dry brushing” my skin before getting in the shower to exfoliate my body before I jump in the shower.
Turn Down the Temperature
I love a long hot shower as much as the next person, but they are not doing anything for your skin. Lukewarm water is good enough to keep your body’s natural oils.
Take advantage of the steam from your hot shower! While in the shower, try to fit in a face mask. The steam from the shower will open up for pores and allow the face mask to penetrate through your skin. This is one of my favorite things to do after a workout! My skin feels so refreshing afterwards.
I do not wash my hair everyday (due to my hair texture) but when I do wash my hair, once week I like to apply a deep conditioning hair mask. While deep conditioning in the shower, the steam helps the hair mask penetrate through my skin and I’m able to multitask while deep conditioning.
When it comes to shaving, this is where the prep comes in. Since I like to dry brush before getting in the shower, this saves so much time when it comes to shaving. Also, make sure you use a razor that has sharp blades!
Am I the only one who HATES moisturizing after a shower? Sometimes I feel like it’s an unnecessary step that adds more time to your routine (especially if you’re always late like me). When you’re drying off your body, add a moisturizer to damp skin. I have super dry skin and I like to add a body oil to damp skin because it helps lock in the moisture.
