Summer Roundup

Happy Monday and Happy Labor Day everyone!! I hope you guys are taking the time to relax and to soak up the last “unofficial” day of Summer. Before I begin, can am I the only one that thought August was the longest month ever?? I never thought August was going to end!!  This Summer has been pretty interesting, to say the least. I wanted to share a recap of my life this Summer as we begin to close the chapter on Summer 2018. Let’s begin…

When the Summer started, I have been going back and forth with what I wanted to do with my professional life. I was working at a company in a position where I wasn’t happy. I briefly talked about it in a recent YouTube video (watch here & here). It got to the point where I wasn’t happy anymore and I deserved better for myself. I didn’t want to wake up and go to work anymore and my anxiety was through the roof! It was always something going on and the workplace was toxic. Dealing with a tyrannical boss who tried to control your every move and loved to use his power to let you know that he was in charge. I missed my old position and company I previously worked for and I was ready for something new. To end out the Summer, a situation happened and it was the straw that broke the camels back. I had to get out of this situation. A few days leading up to the event, I went back and forth with my mom and brother trying to figure out what I should do. I KNOW what I can bring to the table for any organization, and I have been taking the steps to network, apply and reached out to a professional to redo my resume. My mom, of course, was worried because essentially I was going to be quitting my job without a plan. Luckily, due to my hard work and determination, I have been able to come across another opportunity. Long story short, I’m so happy that I am out of that situation and my overall mood has been so much better knowing that I don’t have to deal with the nonsense anymore! If you’re not happy in your workplace, that feeling can carry into your personal life and it really affects your self-esteem.

Okay now that the heavy stuff is out of the way, let’s get to the fun stuff!

I did a little bit of traveling this Summer, not as much as I wanted to but it’s always good to get away! I took a road trip with my brother to visit our mom and family! It’s always great to surround yourself around family and other familiar people in your life. Even though it was a short trip, we had a great time!

It was a must for me to take a trip to the beach! I have been living in Atlanta for 5 years now and I have never gone down to the Georgia coast! It’s good to know that you don’t always have to travel to Florida for the beach! I stayed in an amazing historic hotel and I had an amazing time. That trip by far was one of my favorite weekend getaways I have ever taken.

My niece is here!! I shared with you guys how excited I was that I was going to be an aunt to a beautiful baby girl and I’m happy to announce that she’s here!!! She was born on August 27th, 2018 and I’m obsessed with her already!

What else did I do this Summer? Honestly, those were the high points of my Summer. Besides working on the blog and hanging out with friends, that pretty much sums up my Summer! I’m so looking forward to Fall and I’m happy to be closing this chapter on Summer 2018. I’m going into Fall with a fresh mindset and I’m ready to see what’s in store!

I’d say you had a great summer! One of the things I loved about living in Georgia was it’s proximity to Florida. Sometimes I miss it too.
