I think we can all agree that 2018 was an interesting year! While scrolling on social media and talking to friends and other random people, most of us all had the same thoughts on 2018.
At the beginning of December, I have been doing a lot of reflecting on the year. What happened, what have I accomplished, what I didn’t accomplish, etc. I would have to say that 2018 was such a challenging year for me. I learned a lot about myself and have had to learn some lessons and deal with a lot of change. If I had to say one thing I learned this year, it would have to be to put myself first.
*disclaimer, If certain months have not been mentioned, nothing major happened during those months*
January is one of my favorite months because it’s my birthday month! I took my first mother-daughter trip and we decided to go to NYC. New York is one of my favorite places and I’ll never turn down a trip there. We had so much fun! Although, we did have some travel issues due to weather delays. Besides the point, we had a really great time!
Also in January I decided to take my blog to the next level. After celebrating my one year blogging anniversary in December 2017, I wanted to take blogging seriously as it was becoming a business for me. When I first started blogging, I had no idea about self hosting and why it’s a great benefit. I took the time to do the research and rebrand my entire site from the ground up by myself. In 2019, I plan to share with you guys on how to rebrand on a budget.
April was a fun month for me! I made the investment to hire an intern to help take my blog to the next level. At the time, I was working a full time corporate job so it was hard to manage blogging with my work schedule.
Also in April, I attended one of my first blogging events with Atlanta Apparel. Atlanta Apparel’s Market week is almost like Fashion Week in New York. My intern (at the time) and I attended the Fall/Winter 18 fashion show and it made me really excited for Fall trends.
Grand opening, grand closing. I fired my intern after she worked with me for less than a month. Long story short, we weren’t clicking.
I got featured in an online publication!!! Voyage ATL reached out to me to learn more about myself and my story with being an influencer.
My brother and I took a quick road trip to St. Louis to visit family. Check out my vlog here!
July was very busy for me! It was my brother’s baby shower and we were waiting for the arrival of Baby Kennedy!
I also worked with BarTaco this month for their secret taco challenge!
I finally decided to leave my corporate (toxic) job. Oh my goodness, leaving my job was a huge weight off my shoulders and I decided to leave with out having another job lined up. Not the best idea, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
Landed my first travel collaboration and worked with Jekyll Island Club/Jekyll Island CVB. I have been itching for a beach trip this summer and I was so happy I had the opportunity to travel to Jekyll Island. I have always wanted to go to the Georgia Coast/Golden Isles and I had so much fun!!
Baby Kennedy is here!!! My niece Kennedy made it into the world on August 27th and as you guys can tell by my Instagram stories, I am obsessed with her! She’s growing up so fast and I love her so much!!!
Started a new job this month!
Voted for Stacey Abrams! Even though the outcome isn’t what I wanted, it felt good to support her in this controversial election.
Celebrated the holidays and prepping for the New Year!!!
Whew, 2018 was again an interesting year. I learned a lot about myself and the business of blogging. I learned to say no and cut some of the toxic people and things in my life. I’m going into 2019 with a whole new mindset and I have a really good feeling that 2019 is going to be my year! Thank you so much for hanging with me and I hope to see you again in the next 12 months!
